Technology Essentials 1
Program Description
The
Information Technology Essentials 1 course is a one-year program designed to
combine skills in computer theory, troubleshooting, maintenance, upgrade, basic
electronics, communications, network setup, basic cabling and A+ Certification
practice. This course will provide students with comprehensive theory and
hands-on implementation of course subject areas. Students practice hardware
with real computers and practice operating system with virtual PCs. Students
may earn up to 60 hours towards the internship graduation requirements.

Course Objectives
Students
successfully completing the program will be prepared to enter the information
technology industry as an entry-level employee as an IT Technician, Enterprise
Technician, PC Technician, Desktop Support Technician, Call Center Technician
or Bench Technician. Students will be expected to prepare for the CompTIA+
Certification exam. Coursework will also include the ability to obtain
information from non technical users and the ability to explain computer
workings to a non technical user. Problem solving is also taught with an
emphasis on obtaining concrete results.
